A festive event dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia is being held at the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic. Vyacheslav Durnov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, welcomed those gathered in the hall.
"Today we are celebrating an important historical event in the lives of two countries. The Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, which marks the aspiration of Belarusians and Russians for joint development, friendship, and cooperation. Our states are confidently at the forefront of global integration processes. Products from Vitebsk manufacturers are exported to 65 regions of the Russian Federation. The Regional Executive Committee, as well as cities and districts of the Vitebsk region, have concluded more than 130 cooperation agreements with regional and city administrations of Russian regions. Annually, representatives of the Vitebsk region participate in events of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. This is a unique platform for dialogue, exchange of experience, and demonstration of the potential and achievements of the Vitebsk region. In 2026, within the framework of the XIII Forum, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee plans to conclude cooperation agreements with the Republic of Karelia and the Omsk region, and to build roadmaps with the Oryol and Volgograd regions, and the Republic of Bashkortostan."
The relations between Belarus and Russia are not limited to economic unity. Our countries are integrating in other important areas such as defense and law enforcement. We are developing cooperation in the social policy sphere. A vivid example is the International Arts Festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk," within the framework of which the Days of the Union State are held, and Belarusian-Russian plein airs, competitions, and sports tournaments are organized. It is also symbolic that today additional cross-border commuter trains "Smolensk-Orsha" and "Smolensk-Vitebsk" have started operating. We are increasingly convinced that the consolidation of state, social, and cultural resources creates a more dignified life for our peoples and gives confidence in the future.
Dear friends, I congratulate everyone on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. I wish you good health, longevity, happiness, kindness, peace, and prosperity. Happy holiday! - Vyacheslav Durnov addressed the attendees.
