Vitebsk region expects to exceed last year's grain harvest by a quarter
Vitebsk region expects a higher grain harvest this year, with last year's figure potentially being surpassed by 20-25%. This was announced today at a meeting of the regional executive committee by Ivan Fedorov, Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee.
"According to expert assessments, based on the acreage and the condition of the fields, the gross grain harvest is expected to be 20-25% higher than last year," said the chairman of the committee. "We will begin the mass harvesting of grain crops on August 5-7."
In total, the region's agrarians will have to thresh more than 343 thousand hectares of grain fields. Preparations for machinery and drying equipment have been intensified everywhere, and enterprises are attracting additional labor resources. The executive committee has set the task to concentrate all efforts, to carry out the harvest in the shortest possible time, with minimal crop losses, while strictly observing safety regulations and discipline.
