Vitebsk region expects to significantly increase the efficiency of agricultural production in 2017
Vitebsk region expects to significantly increase the efficiency of agricultural production in 2017. These plans were announced by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, at a session of the regional council of deputies.
The head of the region presented a report of the regional executive committee at the session on the fulfillment of the main parameters of the socio-economic development forecast for the region in 2016 and the tasks for 2017.
"In 2017, we expect a significant increase in production efficiency through the dynamic development of four large integration structures created on the basis of the Vitebsk Meat Processing Plant, the Glubokoye Feed Mill, and the Orsha and Polotsk Grain Processing Plants. In these holdings, we have united agricultural producers, processing enterprises, and retail outlets. The money earned here will be directed towards the development of raw material zones," said the governor. Nikolai Sherstnev noted that organizations from 17 districts of the region joined the holdings. This includes practically all pig farms, all cattle fattening complexes, and poultry farms.
"The growth rate of production over 10 months in the integration structures amounted to 105.8%, including 108.7% in livestock farming," reported the head of the region. The governor recalled that Decree No. 320 "On the Development of Agricultural Production in the Vitebsk Region" was adopted this year, which creates conditions for the formation of large-scale structures and allows for the restructuring of problematic debt on budget and credit obligations of organizations included in the integration structures. "The decree provides preferences and will allow the release of up to 15% of the revenue of processing enterprises. These funds will be directed towards the development of the material and technical base of the holdings," explained Nikolai Sherstnev. "In 2017, we intend to increase the production volumes of the main types of products, purchase about 1,000 units of modern agricultural machinery on lease, and build four dairy farms, each with a capacity of 2,000 head," said the chairman of the regional executive committee.
He also reported that in the region will
work on the development of rural territories has been continued. "We must create good living conditions for people in rural areas," the governor summarized.
