Vitebsk rescuers creatively celebrated the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity

To climb as many steps as possible with their beloved in their arms, to find the "key to family happiness" in a smoky room, to demonstrate erudition in folk wisdom about family values – these and other tests of endurance and ingenuity were passed by rescuers with their wives and girlfriends. Vitebsk has never celebrated Family, Love and Fidelity Day so creatively.

The unusual challenges took place on the territory of the Holy Assumption Cathedral in Vitebsk. 25 couples agreed to prove the strength of their relationships and the harmony of their feelings. As Sergey Meshkoshkin, a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told reporters, rescuers have always closely cooperated with the Vitebsk Diocese, so the Orthodox Church immediately supported the initiative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees and actively joined the event.

– Today, young people spend a lot of time on the internet, watch Western films and TV series that broadcast values unacceptable to us. Therefore, we decided to organize such a holiday for young couples who are in a relationship or have already started a family. So that our guys, together with their significant others, can feel the importance of relationships by going through challenges. After all, nothing unites families like overcoming difficulties together, – noted Sergey Meshkoshkin. – Today, everything is being done in our country to popularize traditional family values – motherhood, large families. The family is the foundation on which our statehood is built, and children are our future.

By the way, the date of the celebration of Family, Love and Fidelity Day was not chosen by chance and coincides with the memorial day of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom. The lives of these Orthodox spouses are an example of Christian marriage and a symbol of ideal family relationships.

– Just as Christ loved the church, so we must love one another. It is love and fidelity that are the fundamental values of marriage, the foundation of the family. After all, life presents many difficulties, but when we feel support, any trials are surmountable. And our future depends on the values by which children will be raised, – emphasized Hieromonk Georgy Sovetsky, a representative of the Vitebsk Diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

To prove the strength of their relationships, each couple had to present their family charter and demonstrate their erudition.

For Alina Grebneva and Artyom Nemtsov, all the challenges were easy because, according to the young couple, they were supported by the power of love.

– We understand each other without words, so we passed the family charter challenge with flying colors, and I am confident that we will excel in the other contests, – said Artyom Nemtsov.

Spouses Anna and Vladimir Daderkin brought their two-year-old son Ilyusha to the celebration, who participated in the challenges with interest alongside his parents.

– All the challenges are very interesting, and I am glad that the management organized such a celebration for our family and others. We will definitely participate again next year. After all, it truly brings us together, – noted Vladimir Daderkin.

The most touching event of the celebration was the marriage proposal, which Maxim Belyaev made to his girlfriend Anastasia among his colleagues. The girl said: "Yes!"

– I am very happy! Starting a family is an important stage in our relationship and the beginning of a new life path. It was very unexpected and pleasant, – shared Anastasia, expressing her emotions.

After the challenges, a prayer service was held for all attendees in the Holy Assumption Cathedral.
