The Vitebsk transport prosecutor's office, together with the BRSM of the Belarusian Railway and the IDN of the Vitebsk Department of Internal Affairs on Transport, organized an excursion for Vitebsk teenagers to the museum of the Vitebsk railway depot.

The Vitebsk transport prosecutor's office, together with the NGO "BRSM" of UP "Vitebsk Branch of Belarusian Railway" and the Juvenile Affairs Inspectorate of the Vitebsk Department of Internal Affairs on Transport, as part of preventing juvenile offenses, injuries, and fatalities of minors on the railway, conducted an introductory tour on October 22, 2015, to the museum of the Vitebsk Locomotive Depot of UP "Vitebsk Branch of Belarusian Railway" for students of Secondary School No. 45 and Secondary School No. 40.

During the meeting, minors were told about the history of the Locomotive Depot and the specifics of its operation. The Deputy Head of the Vitebsk Locomotive Depot, Kudinov S.F., showed the children a working locomotive, explained its structure, carrying capacity, and braking distance. The minors saw firsthand the hard work of a locomotive driver and his assistant, and listened to stories from the daily lives of railway workers, which illustrated how human carelessness, overconfidence, or a small prank can sometimes turn into a major tragedy.

In turn, the Assistant Vitebsk Transport Prosecutor, Yanchilenko E.V., warned that any interference with the operation of railway transport is prosecuted by law and may entail criminal, administrative, and material liability. Placing foreign objects on the rails, throwing stones at trains, damaging signaling and communication devices, and other unlawful actions that violate traffic safety...

railway transport can lead to loss of life, as well as cause serious material damage. The specified offenses are often committed by minors, and their parents often have to bear responsibility.

The most common offense committed by minors on transport facilities is walking on railway tracks or being on railway tracks in an unauthorized place (Part 5 of Article 18.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus), which may result in a fine of 0.2 to 2 basic units (from January to September 2015, 26 minors were prosecuted).

The Vitebsk transport prosecutor's office hereby informs that, for example, in 2014, on the territory served by the Vitebsk branch of the Belarusian Railway, 14 people were injured by rolling stock, 10 of whom were fatal. Of the 14 victims, 11 were intoxicated. 1 minor was injured.

The main causes of injuries were:

·                   violation of rules of conduct at railway transport facilities;

·                   personal carelessness of the victims;

·                   being in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

This year, no cases of injuries to minors have been recorded.

In total, for 9

months, 93 offenses committed by minors were identified.

The Vitebsk transport prosecutor's office, in cooperation with educational institutions, enterprises, and the public, constantly carries out targeted preventive work to prevent the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors, prevent them from committing offenses and crimes, and prevent child injuries.

We must always remember that the railway is a zone of increased danger.

Let's cherish the most important thing we have and is given by nature – Life.

Only through joint efforts will we protect ourselves, our families, and our loved ones from accidents and tragedies.
