Together Against Corruption!

The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, city and district prosecutors, and the Vitebsk and Orsha transport prosecutors, through media appearances, public speeches, and the organization of seminars and "round tables" in February-April of the current year, have implemented the campaign "Together Against Corruption!".

Within its framework, aiming to foster an atmosphere of intolerance towards corruption and enhance the legal literacy of the region's population, efforts have been intensified to explain the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Combating Corruption," which entered into force in January 2016.

The Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, along with territorial prosecutors, conducted over 150 presentations in work collectives, at meetings of commissions for combating corruption of local executive and administrative bodies, state organizations, as well as during seminars, "round tables," and other open forums.

For example, on April 20, 2017, the Head of the Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime, Lapkovsky E.A., and the prosecutor of the department, Larkova V.V., spoke at a seminar for managers and specialists of RUP "Vitebskenergo," explaining the specific requirements of anti-corruption legislation regarding financial control for public officials of the association and its subordinate enterprises. Additionally, they covered issues related to compliance with public procurement legislation, and reviewed examples of specific violations identified during inspections and the consequences of their commission.

During a dialogue that lasted over two hours, the prosecutors answered numerous questions from attendees (over 100 officials from the "Vitebskenergo" system participated in the seminar), thoroughly elaborating on the practical application of certain provisions of anti-corruption legislation.

The practice of holding such meetings with representatives of sectors and spheres most susceptible to corruption risks will be continued in the further work of the Vitebsk region prosecutors.
