The results of the regional stage of the creative competition within the framework of the project "Volgograd – Vitebsk: Memory of Generations" have been summarized, which was held in six nominations.
Students of educational institutions of the regional center took part in the competition. The works of the winners in the final stage, which will be held online, will compete with the creations of their peers from Volgograd.
The project is being implemented by the state archives of the Vitebsk and Volgograd regions (within the framework of the signed agreement between our regions on cooperation in various fields). Its goal is to foster respect for the memory of heroes who gave their lives in the fight against the German-fascist invaders among the younger generation, a sense of pride in the victorious people, and to remind them of the value of peaceful life. In addition, it is designed to popularize the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War through the prism of the events of the Battle of Stalingrad and the liberation of Vitebsk during the Belarusian offensive operation "Bagration".
At the award ceremony, the head of the administration of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk, Alexander Sysoev, noted that while creating their works, the children learned more about history, and also that Volgograd and Vitebsk are connected by a heroic past.
The director of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region, Alexander Korol, said that he and his colleagues were worried whether the competition would resonate with the students. But everything turned out just wonderfully.
The Chairman of the jury, Head of the Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vitebsk Igor Demyanenko, expressed his admiration for the works and emphasized that the regional center takes the development of children's creative potential very seriously.
One of the co-founders of the project is FC "ML Vitebsk". Its representative Valentin Klyushin noted that the football club's policy is not only in the development of the sports sphere but also in promoting social projects. "Volgograd – Vitebsk: Memory of Generations" is primarily supported because it is aimed at the patriotic education of youth.
Incidentally, the project also includes an educational aspect – about 50 events were held for children and youth in February-April: Days of Remembrance, lessons of courage, lectures, quests, film screenings, exhibitions.
