Magic on the doorstep: the festive procession of Father Frosts and Snow Maidens in Vitebsk turned into a New Year's carnival

Happy is the one who managed to meet the real Ded Moroz on New Year's Eve, and today the residents and guests of Vitebsk were lucky a hundredfold: a whole army of winter wizards and their assistants arrived to light up the main Christmas tree. Our correspondents visited the center of events.

The atmosphere in the city is special: everything around seems to have frozen in anticipation of meeting the main winter characters – Ded Moroz and Snegurochka. The streets, decorated with festive illumination, turned into a fairy-tale alley, and the residents and guests of Vitebsk eagerly awaited the appearance of the column of the main winter characters.

But now the main wizard has taken his place in his festive carriage to lead the procession. Next to him are horses, Winter-Winter, and the New Year 2026! Hundreds of Ded Morozes and Snegurochkas began their movement along Lenin Street to the accompaniment of a fairy-tale orchestra.

The festive parade proceeded to the lively rhythms of the New Year's orchestra. Its conductor, the head of the orchestra of military unit 52287, Alexey Surovy, noted that a cheerful repertoire was chosen to create a festive mood.

Everyone is in their own costume and with their own style – the festive procession turned into a real New Year's carnival.
The parade participants are already near the central Christmas tree. Everything is ready for it to shine with bright lights and create a festive atmosphere.

Four horseshoes turned the technical moment of turning on the lights into a real ritual of magic. A horseshoe as a key to a miracle.
Wooden, straw, iron, and gingerbread – these are the horseshoes made by the blacksmith at the grand opening of the event. Each with its own meaning: wooden – for peace and tranquility, straw – for a good harvest, iron – for protection from enemies, and gingerbread – for a sweet family life.
At the finale of the celebration, a magic horseshoe was presented to Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost) so that all children, parents, grandparents would have their New Year trees lit and all wishes come true.
