Hooliganism led a Vitebsk resident to the dock

By the verdict of the court of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Vitebsk, citizen Sh., aged nineteen, was sentenced to correctional labor for a term of one year and six months under Part 1 of Article 339 of the Criminal Code.

It all started when he and his friends decided to take a walk around the city in the evening. The fun dragged on, and closer to 1 AM, a company of guys and girls were spending time on a bench near a residential building not far from the pedestrian overpass of the Vitebsk railway station. At one point, Sh. suggested to his friends that they shoot at empty bottles with a pneumatic pistol, which he had brought from home. After firing a few shots at the bottles, Sh. decided to test his pistol in a more "serious" challenge. Taking the pistol in his hands, he took several aimed shots towards the overpass at the glass panels.

As a result, the pistol passed the "test" – two glass panels were broken, and Sh.'s actions escalated from a minor prank to criminally punishable hooliganism.

Fortunately, no one passing through the overpass was injured. However, in addition to the punishment imposed by the court, Sh. must compensate for the damage caused to the UP "Vitebsk branch of Belarusian Railways" for the broken glass panels in the amount of 9,283,200 rubles.
