Everyone will be held accountable for false accusations

For a knowingly false denunciation and for giving knowingly false testimony, in accordance with Art. 400 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, various punishments are provided, including imprisonment. The maximum term of imprisonment is 5 years.

For insulting a representative of authority in connection with the performance of his official duties, criminal liability is provided under Art. 369 of the Criminal Code, for insulting a judge in connection with the administration of justice – under Art. 391 of the Criminal Code, and for these offenses, punishment is provided up to three years of restriction of liberty.

In the current year, the Dubrovno District Court considered a criminal case charging K. with committing crimes provided for by Art. 369, 391, and 400 of the Criminal Code.

In a public form, K. disseminated knowingly false information regarding a prosecutor of one of the district prosecutor's offices, a judge of one of the district courts, and an employee of the Investigative Committee of the Vitebsk region.

At the same time, K., in addition to making knowingly false statements, disseminated insults against these officials, damaging their honor and dignity. For the purpose of objectivity and comprehensiveness in the investigation and court consideration, the criminal case was transferred to the Dubrovno District Department of the Investigative Committee.

Based on the results of the court's consideration of the criminal case, taking into account the sentences imposed by previous convictions, K. was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment. The sentence has entered into legal force.
