Two residents of the Braslav district have been brought to criminal responsibility for illegal hunting
The investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus for the Vitebsk region has investigated a criminal case against 2 residents of the Braslav district, who on 05.07.2017, while intoxicated, using a car belonging to one of the accused to access the hunting grounds, located in the Osovskoye forestry of the Experimental hunting farm "Braslav" of the State environmental institution "Braslav Lakes National Park" of the Braslav district of the Vitebsk region, without a state certificate for the right to hunt, permission from the internal affairs bodies for the storage and carrying of hunting weapons, as well as a permit for the extraction of a regulated species of game animal – elk and a hunting permit for it, i.e. without proper permission, at a prohibited time, using an unregistered smooth-bore hunting rifle model "IZH-54", caliber 12, illegally extracted two wild animals – a female elk and a young elk (calf), thereby causing damage to the environment of the Republic of Belarus in the amount of 13,800 rubles, i.e. in a particularly large amount.
The criminal case has been sent by the Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office to the court for substantive consideration.
By the verdict of the Miory District Court, the said persons were found guilty of committing a crime provided for by Part 4 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus and were sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment with a conditional application of the sentence for a period of two years, with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to hunting for a period of 2 years, with a fine of 50 basic units, with confiscation of the hunting rifle, with recovery of damages caused by violation of environmental legislation in the amount of 10,730 rubles.
