A Vitebsk resident has been sentenced to 3 years in prison for threatening violence to directly seize property
Sometimes a difficult financial situation, a tough life circumstance can push a person towards not the best actions and even serious crimes. This is exactly what happened to a resident of Vitebsk, A.
A. was seriously depressed due to emerging domestic and family problems. It is not surprising that his craving for alcohol led to his dismissal from work and subsequent eviction from company housing. Then serious financial difficulties began, with no funds to repay loans and pay for temporary accommodation. In a state of complete despair, A. even had thoughts of suicide, but after writing a suicide note, he did not dare to end his life. He replaced this option of solving all problems with alcohol.
While intoxicated, he went to the railway station, where he committed a crime. Seeing a girl on the platform, A. had the idea to steal her money. To do this, he decided to threaten her with a knife he had in his pocket. Pointing the knife at the victim, A. demanded that she hand over her money. The girl managed to escape and quickly reported the incident to the police officers. A. himself simply left the crime scene. However, he was soon apprehended. In his testimony, A. did not deny committing the crime, confessed fully and expressed remorse.
For the threat of violence dangerous to the life and health of the victim, with the aim of direct seizure of property (robbery), he was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment.
