Protecting workers' rights is a common cause

Exercising supervision over the enforcement of legislation, prosecutor's offices closely cooperate with other government bodies, public organizations and associations.
Thus, prosecutors of Vitebsk region have established close cooperation with trade union organizations of the region on issues of protecting the legitimate rights of workers.
A Plan for cooperation between the Vitebsk Regional, District, City Trade Union Associations and the Prosecutor's Offices of the Vitebsk Region has been developed and is being implemented for the implementation of the Agreement between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus in the sphere of protecting the constitutional rights and guarantees of workers.
As part of the implementation of the measures of the said Plan, prosecutor's office staff regularly participate in the Republican Trade Union Legal Reception of Citizens.
The next joint reception of citizens was held in the region on March 31 of the current year. On this day, prosecutors, together with employees of trade union organizations, conducted an outreach reception at 23 organizations and enterprises of the region, and received more than 100 citizens.
The issues that concerned those who came to the reception were diverse – from the possibility of providing dormitory accommodation, the realization of the rights of young specialists to improve housing conditions, to the conditions for extending a contract after reaching the generally established retirement age, and compliance with labor protection requirements.
All those who applied for the reception were given explanations of the requirements of the legislation, and if the issue required study or verification, a written appeal was accepted.
Conducting joint outreach receptions of citizens not only helps workers to resolve their legal issues but also provides prosecutors with information about the state of legality at a particular enterprise or organization, which is subsequently used in planning supervisory activities.
