The defense of the Republic of Belarus is the duty and sacred obligation of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus

The procedure for undergoing military service is determined by the Law of the Republic of Belarus of 05.11.1992 N 1914-XII "On Military Duty and Military Service", the Regulation on the Procedure for Undergoing Military Service, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 25.04.2005 N 186, the general military statutes of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, and other regulatory legal acts of the Republic of Belarus.

Evasion of conscription measures entails responsibility in accordance with Article 435 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, which provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to 5 years.

It should be noted that criminal prosecution does not exempt citizens from fulfilling their constitutional duty.

Evasion is understood as the failure of a person to perform the duty imposed on him by law to participate in conscription measures, provided that he has the opportunity to fulfill his duty.

Conscription measures include: appearing for medical examination (survey); conducting medical examination (survey); meeting of the conscription commission; appearance of conscripted citizens at the military commissariat, at the conscription (assembly) point for dispatch to the place of service; presence at the military commissariat, at the conscription (assembly) point until dispatch to the place of service; dispatch of conscripted citizens to the place of service.

Methods of evasion can be varied, such as: failure to appear at the conscription point without valid reasons, forgery of documents, simulation of illness, obtaining exemption from conscription by inflicting bodily harm on oneself, etc.

Only the presence of valid reasons excludes criminal liability.
