Meeting of the commission for the prevention of occupational injuries and occupational diseases: Br10 million allocated for the improvement of working conditions in the first half of the year
Br10 million has been allocated in the Vitebsk region for improving working conditions at workplaces in the first half of the year. This was announced today by the Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Khristoforov, at a meeting of the commission for the prevention of occupational injuries and occupational diseases.
"Thanks to the work carried out, 337 workplaces with harmful and (or) hazardous working conditions, employing 408 people, have been brought into compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards, and working conditions have been improved at 269 workplaces, employing 418 people," the committee chairman emphasized.
According to him, improving working conditions is one of the most important components of economic modernization. "It is easier and cheaper to invest money in ensuring labor safety than in eliminating the consequences of tragedies that can occur or do occur as a result of inattentive attitude to these problems," noted Alexander Khristoforov.
The head of the regional executive committee's committee drew special attention to the rate of occupational diseases in the region, which has been the lowest in the republic for several years. No cases of occupational diseases have been registered in the region this year.
A labor protection management system (LPMS) has currently been implemented in almost 5,000 organizations of all forms of ownership, which is about 70% of the region's organizations under control. At the same time, the implementation of the standard is ensured in all organizations of municipal ownership.
"All management decisions made indicate that the labor protection management system operating in the region has reserves, the use of which will reduce the level of occupational injuries and occupational diseases," emphasized Alexander Khristoforov.
