Meeting of the regional organizing committee for the preparation of Victory Day celebrations: veterans will begin to be awarded medals for the 75th anniversary of Victory in April
During the meeting, the participants determined what assistance is needed by veterans, including in the current epidemiological situation. There are 647 veterans living in the Vitebsk region. "First of all, it is necessary to assist in the purchase of medicines and food. To clarify whether everyone has undergone a medical examination, what social assistance they receive. From April 1, material assistance will begin to be issued to veterans in the region, and from April 10, medals in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory will be presented," said Vladimir Terentyev.
The organizing committee calls on public organizations, schools, and enterprises to limit visits to veterans. The assistance due to them will be presented not en masse and only by people who have passed the necessary medical examination.
The chairman of the organizing committee said that the public association "Belaya Rus" has taken the initiative to name the school No. 47 under construction in Vitebsk after the Hero of the Soviet Union, General Evgeny Ivanovsky. A corresponding proposal has been sent to the city executive committee. There is also a possibility that the school in the village of Babinichi, Vitebsk region, will be named after its native, partisan, Hero of the Soviet Union Vladimir Kurilenko. Local residents came up with this initiative.
