Executive Committee Meeting: The waste sorting plant in Vitebsk is planned to switch to a two-shift operation starting in September
The Vitebsk waste sorting plant plans to switch to a two-shift operation from September 1 to ensure full capacity utilization. This was announced today by Yuri Dyadelo, Head of the Main Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, during a meeting of the regional executive committee.
The plant started operation in May, and its construction cost Br38.3 million. The enterprise's capacity allows for sorting 100 thousand tons of waste per year. The plant is part of a regional complex for sorting and processing solid municipal waste (SMW), which will serve residents of the regional center, Vitebsk, Gorodok, Shumilino, and Liozno districts. "Currently, the waste sorting plant operates in one shift. From September 1, it is planned to switch to a two-shift operation. This will ensure 100% capacity utilization," noted Yuri Dyadelo. The plant carries out semi-automatic sorting of mixed municipal waste, extracts secondary material resources, and processes PET bottles and plastics. The resulting organic part of the waste is transferred to a composting site for subsequent use.
In the Vitebsk region, 62.3 thousand containers for separate waste collection have been installed near individual residential buildings. Over six months, garbage chutes have been closed in 455 multi-story buildings in the region.
The head of the main department of housing and communal services of the regional executive committee reported that over six months, 52 adjacent territories have been improved in settlements of the region, 82 playgrounds have been installed, and 89 thousand sq.m of road surface have been repaired. 130.9 thousand sq.m of the total area of residential buildings have undergone major repairs. This year, 366 facilities are included in the major repair schedule, with work completed on 60 of them.
In the northern region, 24 iron removal stations were launched in January-July, and 14 are under construction. "The implementation of the investment project 'Clean Water in the Vitebsk Region' has begun, financed by loan funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of Br15.5 million. The project envisages the construction of 80 water supply facilities in rural settlements with a population of over 200 residents. Currently, contracts have been concluded, and the design and construction of the facilities are planned to be completed by the end of 2022. This year"six iron removal stations are planned to be commissioned under the investment project - in Vitebsk and Verkhnedvinsk districts," said Yuri Dyadelo. Modernization of water supply systems in Orsha and the district is ongoing.
Also today, at the meeting of the regional executive committee, the preparation of agricultural organizations for winter stall housing of cattle was discussed. The First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Committee for Agriculture and Food, Vladimir Masher, spoke about problematic agricultural enterprises where winter preparations had either not begun or were proceeding extremely slowly.
Currently, there are about 250 agricultural enterprises operating in the Vitebsk region, about 60 of which are in a difficult financial situation, showing low indicators for weight gain and milk yield. The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, instructed the regional agricultural production committee and district executive committees to determine which of the problematic farms have the potential to operate normally (under the personal responsibility of the head of the district), and for which ones the liquidation process should be initiated. Employees of these agricultural organizations will be employed in their specialties, and land, livestock, and buildings will be transferred to other enterprises.
