Executive Committee Meeting: Work on improving and developing the region's housing and communal services was analyzed

According to the head of the regional housing and communal services, the plant is fully built, and the technological equipment has been installed. "The commissioning is delayed for an objective reason - due to restrictive measures for COVID-19, Italian specialists cannot come to carry out commissioning work. We are in constant contact with the embassy on this issue. According to our estimates, the visit may take place in early November. As soon as this happens, the plant will be launched within a month," explained Yuri Dyadelo.

The plant's capacity will allow sorting up to 100 thousand tons of waste per year. The facility is being built at the expense of the state institution "Operator of Secondary Material Resources." The plant is part of a regional complex for sorting and processing solid municipal waste (SMW), which is planned to be created in Vitebsk to serve the regional center, Vitebsk, Gorodok, Shumilino, and Liozno districts.

In total, in accordance with the concept of creating SMW management facilities in the Vitebsk region, it is planned to build six large interregional complexes. For the Orsha facility (its service area will also include Dubrovno and Tolochin districts), design work is being completed, and the documents will be submitted for examination in the near future. Work on the Novopolotsk complex (which will serve Novopolotsk, Polotsk, Ushachi, and Rossony districts) is still in the initial stage - a feasibility study is underway. These facilities are intended to organize deep processing, in particular, PET bottles, soft plastics, and in Novopolotsk, it is also planned to create capacities for rubber processing, which is a first for the Vitebsk region.
