Regional Executive Committee Meeting: Cultural Institutions of the Vitebsk Region to Receive 75 New Pianos

Cultural institutions of the Vitebsk region will receive 75 new Belarusian-made pianos in 2020, said Petr Podgursky, head of the culture department, at a meeting of the regional executive committee.

"Over the past four years, more than Br220 thousand has been allocated for the repair and purchase of musical instruments in the Vitebsk region, and 78 instruments have been purchased. In 2019, the Ministry of Culture transferred 50 new pianos, and this year we plan to receive another 75," said Petr Podgursky. The instruments are manufactured by the Minsk-based company "Piano Factory" LLC and are purchased with funds from the republican budget.

During the implementation of the state program "Culture of Belarus" for 2016-2020 in the Vitebsk region, the house where the Vitebsk Art Folk School was located (a museum has been created there), the building of the former power station in Vitebsk, the Holy Protection Convent in Tolochin, the facade of the St. Sophia Cathedral and other facilities have been restored. Houses of culture in Senno, Orsha, Dubrovno, Verkhnedvinsk, Chashniki, Braslav, and in the urban settlements of Kopys and Bolbasovo in the Orsha district have been renovated.

In 2016-2019, Br256.5 million (extra-budgetary - Br48.8 million) was allocated for financing the measures of the state program "Culture of Belarus" in the region.
