Regional Executive Committee meeting: Br2.8 billion to be invested in the development of the Vitebsk region's agro-industrial complex
According to the head of the regional agricultural department, with the improvement of the efficiency of farmers' work, the focus is on the production of high value-added products. "By 2025, it is planned to fully ensure the capacity utilization of milk and grain processing enterprises, and meat processing enterprises – by 70%," noted Sergey Egorov.
He emphasized the investments intended to be implemented in the agro-industrial complex in 2020-2025. The funds will be used to complete the construction of farms and complexes, erect new facilities, and purchase agricultural machinery. Finances will also be spent on the construction of rural housing and training of specialists. The total investment amount will be Br2 billion 823 million.
The Deputy Chairman of the regional executive committee, Boris Efremov, stated that a list of organizations serving the industry, producing, processing, and selling agricultural products has been identified in the region. The list includes 134 organizations. "Seven agro-industrial associations have been created in the region based on processing enterprises. These are Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Plant, Vitebsk Meat Packing Plant, OJSC "Moloko", Postavy Dairy Plant, Glubokoye Condensed Milk Plant, Orsha Meat Canning Plant, and Polotsk Dairy Plant," noted Boris Efremov.
For all participants of agro-associations, the amount of mandatory deductions for debt repayment has been determined this year.
On February 25, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 70 "On the Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Vitebsk Region." The document contains measures to improve the situation in agriculture in the northern region.
