The railway is a dangerous place for children to walk
Most accidents occur during school holidays. The most common cause of injury on railways is walking on the tracks and crossing them in unauthorized places.
At the same time, recently, cases of minors being injured by electric current on railway transport facilities of the republic have become more frequent, as a result of children climbing onto the roofs of wagons that are under the contact network.
On 19.11.2017, around 16:00, at the Orsha-Vostochnaya station, a 6th-grade student from one of the schools in Orsha climbed onto the roof of a freight car, approached the elements of the contact network, and as a result was injured by electric current.
The Vitebsk Transport Prosecutor's Office would like to remind you once again that when on railway transport facilities, it is prohibited:
- to allow children to play on platforms, to leave them unattended, to be near the edge of the platform, to walk along the railway track closer than 5 meters from the outer rail, before the passage of a high-speed train;
- to cross and run across the tracks in front of a moving train;
- to walk on the tracks, to cross the track immediately after a train of one direction has passed, without making sure there is no oncoming train;
- to crawl under wagons and climb over couplers to cross a track occupied by rolling stock;
- to get on and off a moving train.
To avoid electric shock, it is forbidden to climb onto the roofs of wagons, to climb onto supports and special structures of the contact network, to touch live equipment under passenger and electric trains.
When on a boarding platform with a young child, they must be held by the hand or carried.
When on railway transport facilities, be attentive and careful. Observe and teach children the rules of safety on the railway yourself.
