The railway is a high-risk area!

Neglecting basic safety rules on railway property can sometimes lead to irreparable consequences – death and injury of people. This often happens due to crossing or being on railway tracks in unauthorized places, especially if a person is intoxicated, talking on a mobile phone, or listening to music with headphones at that moment. In 2020, 6 cases were registered in the Orsha transport region where people died under train wheels or sustained injuries. Among them was the death of a 46-year-old resident of the Orsha district who was crossing the railway tracks while intoxicated in front of an approaching train. The death of a 49-year-old resident of the Dubrovno district, who fell on a pedestrian crossing under the train wheels and could not get up due to severe alcohol intoxication. The injury of a 34-year-old resident of the Orsha district, who was walking along a moving train, felt unwell and fell under its wheels. Already this year, a case of injury to a minor has been registered, who was using a mobile phone while crossing the tracks at the Orsha railway station. Such tragedies can be avoided by observing the basic rules of conduct on the facilities of Belarusian Railways: - cross railway tracks only in designated areas; - do not cross or run across tracks in front of a closely approaching rolling stock; - do not crawl under or climb over railway rolling stock and auto-coupler devices between wagons; - do not be on railway transport facilities while intoxicated.
