Talai meets with Donbass children vacationing in Novopolotsk

04.10.2023   Public figure, Paralympian, motivational speaker and founder of a famous charitable foundation Aleksei Talai met with children from Lisichansk and Severodonetsk who are vacationing in Novopolotsk. The meeting took place during a visit of foreign diplomats to the city.

Children from Donbass have been in Novopolotsk for almost three weeks already. The group consists of 44 children and four accompanying persons. The children were assigned to several educational institutions where they study together with Belarusian children. During the first days of their stay, each child underwent a medical examination. Some of them undertook additional tests and received recommendations. The trip was organized with the support of the Aleksei Talai Charitable Foundation.

Aleksei Talai noted that earlier the foundation was primarily focused on children with disabilities. Today it provides support to all kids. When Donbass families found out about the project, they began to send numerous letters to the foundation with a request to pick their children for the program. They, as Aleksei Talai noted, also needed support, help and the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful holiday.

"They needed to feel love, to experience some positive emotions, to see that there is an alternative, and to tell their relatives about it. Also to know that the Belarusian fraternal people stand together with them in this difficult time. When I read the letters from the parents of Donbass, my heart bled. This was also because my resources are not unlimited,” the public figure said. “There was a moment when I had an opportunity to report to the head of state about my visit to Donbass, and I received words of support from the president. In 2021 we started to bring children from the new territories of the Russian Federation to Belarus for vacation. We also received large groups of 300 children.”

He called the contribution of ordinary people, who had the opportunity to joint the charity efforts invaluable. “Thousands, hundreds of thousands of Belarusian families joined this project, and I was really glad and proud of the kindness of my fellow people,” Aleksei Talai said.

The children from Lisichansk and Severodonetsk arrived in Belarus on vacation almost three weeks ago with the support of the charitable foundation of public figure, Paralympic athlete and motivational speaker Aleksei Talai. The program of the stay in Belarus includes sightseeing, sports, entertainment and health rehabilitation events. Novopolotsk has hosted children from Donbass for the second time.
